Town of Colfax

Colfax is the parish seat of Grant Parish, Louisiana.  

The town, which was founded in 1869, is named for the vice president of the United States, SchuylerM. Colfax.  Vice president Colfax who served in the first term of U.S. President Ulysses S. Grant.  

The parish is named after President Grant.
